Review: Plastic Italian Alpini Mountain Troops for Bolt Action

When it comes to expanding your Bolt Action World War II collection, Warlord Games has consistently delivered top-notch products. Their Plastic Alpini Italians box is no exception, offering gamers and hobbyists a versatile and detailed addition to their forces.

One of the standout features of this box is the sheer number of options it provides. Inside, you'll find a plethora of components that allow you to assemble your Alpini Italians in various configurations. Whether you want to field a squad of riflemen, a machine gun team, or even smg squad, this box has you covered. The flexibility it offers ensures that you can tailor your army to suit your strategy and the specific scenarios you want to play.

As on Warlord website, weapons included are M91/41 rifle, M91/38 Carcano Cavalry Carbine, M38A Beretta SMG, M38 Carcano carbine, M1934 9mm Beretta pistol, Breda M30 LMG and combat knives.

Warlord Games has a reputation for producing high-quality miniatures, and the Alpini Italians are no exception. Each figure is finely sculpted, capturing the distinctive uniforms and equipment of these mountain troops. The facial expressions and poses add a level of authenticity that enhances the overall gaming experience. Painting these miniatures is a joy, as the sculpted details make it easy to bring them to life with your chosen color scheme.

The inclusion of a variety of equipment options is a testament to Warlord Games commitment to historical accuracy. So there is famous Le Penne Nere, the black feathers, as one piece bit to stuck to helmets, tropical pit helms (if you mix them with Italians from other sets as theire not in this box) and another distinctive alpini feature, the Cappello Alpino aka the alpini cap. Aside from headgear, there are also sheated axe for their belts. This adds depth to your army and also helps them differentiate during gameplay from the "regular" squads. But except that, the bodies and weapons are same as on regular italians (As uniform was same) so you can freely mixmatch them and "denote" ther "mountainess" with extra alpini caps or putting the black feathers at the desert pit helm to create Alpini in East Africa.

Which also works for the metal/resin supports packs. You can buy the Italian Army Support Group (aka officier, mmg, mortar, medic, etc) and just put feathers on their helmets and viola. Their Alpini now!

This also means, that you could also use the box to field 1-2 squads of Alpini and use the rest as regular Italian army in helmets. Choice is yours!

Assembly is relatively straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions provided. Even novice modelers will find it easy to put together these miniatures. The plastic used is of high quality, making for sturdy and durable models once assembled. You won't have to worry about fragile pieces breaking during games or transportation.

One of the most appealing aspects of this box is its value for money. With a generous number of miniatures and a wide array of options, you'll find that it offers excellent bang for your buck. Whether you're a seasoned Bolt Action player looking to expand your collection or a newcomer looking for a solid starting point, the Plastic Alpini Italians box delivers in terms of both quality and quantity, as you can field the whole platoon of Infantry squads using just this box.

In conclusion, Warlord Games Plastic Alpini Italians box is a great box. Its versatility, attention to detail and value for money make it an outstanding addition to the game.
