Dragoons vs Commanded Shotte - Whats the difference? - History for Wargamers

Will from Bigbattleslittleworlds  have question on my previous '30 Years War Cavalry' video "what's the difference between the dismounted dragoons, and commanded shotte." So, here is the answer!

Also, if you didnt see it, check the previous "30 Years War Cavalry types explained in 10 minutes!" here!

The commanded units of shot were mostly used to intersperse with the cavalry squadrons, so that will give them some fire support.

The role of the dragoon was still being defined in the wars of the 17th century.  Our subjects fighting in the English Civil Wars and Thirty Years War are really mounted infantry, musketeers mounted on poorer quality horses. Their role was not glamorous, but was nonetheless vital to a 17th century general.
